Two Die in Suspected Drunk-Driving Crash in Harris County, Texas

Sheriff’s deputies believe a drunk driver is responsible for a fatal car crash Wednesday night that killed two people, including a Good Samaritan who had helped change a flat tire, in north Harris County, Texas.

Investigators learned that a group of people had just finished changing a flat tire on the outside shoulder the 13700 block of the northbound Eastex Freeway, near Lee Road.

Around 11:23 p.m., deputies said an SUV driven by 50-year-old Roy Boston crashed into the rear of the disabled vehicle on the shoulder, then hit the people outside the car and the passerby’s vehicle.

The Good Samaritan and the 17-year-old daughter of the woman driving the disabled car were killed. The woman was critically injured and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.
A 10-year-old boy was knocked off the overpass and fell more than 20 feet into a bayou below, but was able to get to safety and was not seriously injured.

“It’s amazing that he had as few injuries as he had,” said Sgt. C. Wolverton of the sheriff’s department.

Boston is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter as well as one count of intoxication assault. He is currently in the Harris County jail in lieu of a combined $90,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
